Fair Housing

Fair Housing laws are designed to protect your right to seek housing anywhere you can afford to live. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) enforces the Fair Housing Act.

The Fair Housing Act protects you against violations of your housing rights and prohibits discrimination in housing on the basis of: Ancestry (Ohio Law), Color, Race, National origin, Religion, Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), Familial Status, and Disability.

If you have any questions or inquiries, regarding fair housing be sure to contact our Fair Housing Coordinator. If our office is unable to assist you, there are many other agencies and organizations in the area, which may be of service to you.

The expert Fair Housing contact for Ross County is the Ohio Regional Development Corporation.  Please contact Julie Kiser at 740-622-0529 or e-mail Jkiser@ordevelopment.com.

The Ross County Planning and Development Department cannot provide legal advice regarding Landlord-Tenant issues.
