Over 7,000 people in Ross County receive the Homestead Exemption, which allows low-income seniors, disabled persons and their surviving spouses to shield $25,000 of their home’s value from taxation. To be eligible for the Homestead Exemption in 2019, your adjusted gross income (as reported on Line 3 of your Ohio State Income Tax Return) must not exceed $32,800. In addition, disabled veterans and their surviving spouses may be eligible for double the regular Homestead if they meet certain requirements (read to the bottom for more details). The relevant application forms below must be submitted to our office by December 31st of the first year for which you seek the exemption.
